Applying the Australian Curriculum in a meaningful way to engage your child in their education
St Augustine's Parish School follows the Australian Curriculum to provide a comprehensive education for your child.
The Australian Curriculum is made up of three dimensions:
1. Learning areas: these include English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities and Social Sciences, The Arts, Technologies, Health and Physical Education and Languages other than English (Chinese at St Augustine's)
2. General capabilities: the knowledge, skills, behaviours and dispositions needed to live and work successfully in the twenty-first century
3. Cross curriculum priorities: these include Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures, Asia and Australia's engagement with Asia, Sustainability. As a Catholic school, we also add Catholic Identity.
Our highly skilled teachers design learning programs that incorporate the general capabilities and cross-curriculum perspectives in a meaningful, engaging and challenging way.
We also provide clear and visible learning intentions for the children that shows them what successful learning looks like. That is, each child is very clear on what is expected on them in their learning and given every opportunity to thrive.
