Catholic Identity

You do not need to be Catholic to attend St Augustine’s Parish School. However, it is important to understand that our school experience is shaped by the values and teachings of the Catholic faith, grounded in the Gospel values of Jesus.

The principles of Catholic Social Teaching underpin our vision, decision-making, and culture at St Augustine’s. These include:

  • Human Dignity — every person is made in God’s image
  • The Common Good — seeking what is best for all
  • Solidarity — recognising that we are all connected
  • Subsidiarity — ensuring all people have a voice, especially those who are vulnerable
  • Participation — encouraging everyone to contribute to the community
  • Stewardship of Creation — caring for and protecting our world
  • Preferential Option for the Poor — considering how decisions impact those who are most disadvantaged

Animated by our Catholic faith and in partnership with families, we encourage children to participate in prayer, Masses, liturgies, and social justice initiatives.

Our Catholic identity is shared with the Salisbury Parish team, and students have many opportunities to explore their faith both in the classroom and within the parish community.

Teachers at St Augustine’s use the Crossways Religious Education Curriculum, along with MITIOG (Made in the Image of God), our human sexuality education program, to inform their teaching.

Acknowledgement of Country

We acknowledge the Kaurna people as traditional custodians of the land on which we meet and pay our respects to the Elders past, present and future, for they hold the memories, the traditions, the culture and hopes of Indigenous Australia.
