Principal’s Welcome

I understand that choosing a school is one of the most important decisions you will make for your child.

There are many factors you will need to consider. The quality of learning outcomes. The standard of facilities. Special programs to cater to your child's exceptional academic, sporting or artistic gift. How close the school is from home or work - a particular consideration for families looking for a school close to the Edinburgh RAAF base.

Our school is a rich and diverse place where we work with you to prepare your child to find their place in the world. This means not just thinking of them as a 'future adult' but honouring them as a full and complete child right here, right now.

We care about the families in our community and when we ask them what they like about St Augustine's School, they name things such as trusted relationships with teachers, 'playful learning', and the extensive fenced grounds which keeps children safe as they run and play with their friends.

St Augustine's Parish School provides a quality primary school education in the Catholic tradition. We celebrate our catholic heritage and parish connection and we are proud of the multi-cultural and multi-faith community where all families Catholic, other faith or no faith are made to feel valued, respected and included.

Since joining the school as Principal in October 2021 my focus and that of my experienced team is to enrich the lives of children and their families through education which places the child at the centre of what we do.

We understand how important it is to not only teach subjects, but also to allow children to learn life skills such as how to work well with others, how to understand differences, and the value of hard work and perseverance.

With a focus on engaging your child in the classroom and beyond, we will encourage him or her to discover their own unique talents and strive to be the best they can be.

Whether you are an existing member of our school community or considering St Augustine's school for your child, I would welcome your contact so we can discuss working together to help your child flourish.

Kind regards

Dan Cowan
